Competition Style Volume Category is described as 6D and up per natural lash. More than 6 may be used. Fewer than 6 may also be used sparingly for thinner, natural lashes, or the very innermost corner couple of lashes. If the judges feel that the majority of the set does not use 6D and up, it could result in points deducted or disqualification. Choose your models wisely.

No additional electrical outlet will be available. If a competitor requires the use of humidifiers or nanomisters, they must bring one that is battery operated, and must supply their own batteries.

The brand of lashes and adhesive used on the pre-applied eye can be at the competitor’s discretion, but the competitor must keep in mind that symmetry and balance of the left and right eye are categories they are being judged on. It is advisable to use the same brand (diameter, curl, lengths) for both eyes, though it is not mandated. The RIGHT eye of the model must be completely bare. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

  • For the pre-applied LEFT eye, the diameter used must not exceed .07, though a mix of thinner diameter lashes may be utilized. The eyelashes used must be black in color. The adhesive used must be black in color; use of clear adhesive is not permitted. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

From the start of the mandatory briefing, competitors will not be allowed to touch their models, and neither competitor nor model will be allowed to leave the competition area until instructed to do so.

  • During the mandatory briefing, each competitor and their model will be assigned a number. This is for the purpose of unbiased judging, as the main judging panel will not know the identity of the competitor whose model they are judging. Competitors and models must not announce or post any identifying information, in person or online (including social media), that would link their number to the competitor’s identity until after the winners are announced. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

  • Models must not be wearing any makeup.

  • When prompted, competitors may enter the competition arena, find their workstation that corresponds with their number and set up all supplies that are needed.  Once the competition starts, competitors will be unable to reach into their case for more supplies.

  • Before the competition opens, a Floor Judge will walk around to all work stations to ensure no prohibited items are being used and that the models are all makeup free with the LEFT EYE applied and the RIGHT EYE bare, and photos will be taken of each model with their number visible.  Failure to comply may result in point deduction or disqualification.

  • Once the competition has officially begun, competitors will have TWO HOURS to apply a full set of Competition Style Volume extensions to the model’s RIGHT EYE.  The Floor Judges will be circulating and marking things such as sanitation, under eye coverage fit, and isolation techniques. All competitors must be in compliance of NEESA’s sanitation standards. Failure to comply will result in points deducted or disqualification.

  • Competitors are urged to keep track of their own timing (in a way that won’t compromise sanitation) and be sure to have checked through the lash line for any eyelashes stuck together before time is called.  Under eye coverings are to be left in place, and will be removed by the Main Judges, after the judging process.

  • When time is called, signalling the allotted time is up, all competitors must immediately stop working, put down their tools, and raise both hands in the air while still seated.  All models must stay quietly in place on the massage table with eyes closed.  When instructed by the Floor Judges, all competitors must immediately pack up all belongings except for both your tweezers, and the spoolie that was used on this model, and vacate the competition area. Competitors must ensure that there is no marking on any of the tools left behind that could identify them. No items can be left behind that may identify the competitor to the Main Judges, and no competitor is allowed to be in the competition area while the Main Judges are entering.  Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

  • During judging, the models are not to speak unless spoken to.  Models must not disclose who performed the work in any way.  Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

  • When judging is completed, photographs will be taken of the models with the competitor number visible, then, the models will be dismissed. The competitor’s tweezers will be released to the model at this time to return to the competitor.

  • Rankings and will be announced at the Awards Ceremony. Details to come.
